Dr. R. Kamaladevi, doyenne in medicinal plant research, was born at Kampooru Veedu at Elappuram, near Attingal. Her father, Shri. C. Shanmathuran, was a member of the well-known Chavarodu Vaidya family. She graduated from Trivandrum Ayurveda College in 1964 and joined the Ayurveda Research Institute, Poojappura, Trivandrum, in 1968.
Initially serving at the Panchakarma Hospital, she later dedicated 30 years to research in the Pharmacognosy Unit, studying over a thousand varieties of medicinal plants. She retired as Research Officer in 1997 and founded C.S. HERBALS to continue her Ayurvedic medicine research.
In the early '60s, as an Ayurvedic doctor, she realized the lack of proper wound-healing medicines, especially for diabetic ulcers and bedsores. With her brilliance and passion for research, she spent a decade developing a potent healing formula. After years of relentless hard work, she introduced Skiinprot, a time-tested research product.
